Some PA/PTAs raise money by asking parents to donate their loose change when they come into the school. Parents at P.S. 321 in Brooklyn came up with a creative way to get parents to share this way: they created a large piggy bank out of a metal barrel.

For several days once every few months, the bank is placed in the lobby of the school. Parents are invited to stop by and drop in whatever loose change they have in their pockets or around the house. Its presence in the lobby is advertised on the school website and in the school’s weekly e-newsletter.
