Parent Leadership

Anyone with a child in a NYC public school -- parents, foster parents, guardians, step-parents, persons in parental relation -- can be a parent leader. Parent leaders:

  • volunteer in schools (not just in their children’s classrooms)
  • become PA/PTA executive board members
  • sit on School Leadership Teams (SLTs)
  • join district and citywide education groups (such as CECs, the PEP and DLT citywide education councils)
  • represent and guide other parents to take action to support students and families
